The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted a recall alert on December 16, 2022, after pet food manufacturer TFP Nutrition voluntarily recalled its HEB Texas Pets Indoor Complete Dry Cat Food.
The recall was a cautionary measure and related to potential salmonella contamination.There were no reports of any illness or adverse reactions.

Why was it recalled?
Salmonella bacteria can cause an infection when consumed, which causes symptoms in cats such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, excess salivation, and decreased appetite.
It can also cause similar symptoms in humans if they handle contaminated products so be sure to wash your hands after handling your cat’s food. Some cats may not show symptoms but can still spread the bacteria to other household pets and humans.
Where was the product sold?
The impacted product was only distributed in the State of Texas and sold in HEB retail stores. No other HEB products were impacted by this recall.
