Smalls Human-Grade Fresh Cat Food recall issued voluntarily and posted by FDA May 20, 2021

On June 24, 2021, pet food manufacturer Smalls voluntarily recalled its Human-Grade Fresh Cat Food.

The recall was a cautionary measure relating to customer complaints that the product “looked spoiled and had an unusual color.” This was caused by apparent refrigeration issues. There were no reports of any illness or adverse reactions.

Why was it recalled?

At the time of the recall, a Smalls co-founder said: “When we learned that our kitchen was experiencing freezer issues, we immediately knew some food might arrive spoiled. Having cats eating this was a risk we simply couldn’t take.”

Where was the product sold?

Products were distributed nationwide in the U.S. and Canada via Smalls’ subscription service.
