The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted a recall alert on April 12, 2021 that pet food manufacturer Nestlé Purina PetCare had voluntarily recalled its Complete Essentials Tuna Entrée in Sauce Wet Cat Food.
The recall was a cautionary measure and related to possible plastic fragments in the food. There were no reports of any illness or adverse reactions.

Why was it recalled?
Nestlé Purina recalled this product after customers reported seeing plastic in the food, but the recall announcement didn’t specify if any cats had suffered injury or sickness.
In a statement at the time, the company said: “To prevent injury or illness, we recommend consumers discard the product and we will replace it.”
Where was the product sold?
The impacted products were distributed nationwide online and in specialty stores. No other Nestlé Purina products were impacted.
What to do?
If you have a product matching the above description, stop feeding it to your cats immediately and throw any leftover food away. The product information can be found on the bottom of each can. If your cat has consumed the recalled product and is showing signs of illness, you should seek advice from your vet.
